Fri 19 Jul - Toronto, ON

A necessary lazy day. There has been a lot of touring and full-on lately and with today's forecast to be another stinker until thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon, we were in go-slow mode.

After a quiet morning, we wandered across to Starbucks on Church Street some 5 minutes walk away for a cuppa and free wifi. Nice environment, cool music and popular with students and others who need to connect online like us.

We have to admit that we have changed our views on Starbucks just a little bit. Coffee, if chosen carefully, is fine, i.e. a small brewed coffee of dark roast is quite drinkable and costs less than $2 per cup. Plus a small is not really a small here so you get plenty of it. Of course, you can forget about ordering any espresso, as it is very expensive and not very good.

The "view" from our communal Starbucks table...

Di was doing her updates and emails...

We also booked ourselves in for a much needed therapeutic massage at Toronto Bodyworks for the afternoon after a bit of online research.

We spent a few hours back in our room then had a bite for lunch in a nearby food court before we headed to our massage location.

The address we were given was 3rd floor, 71 Duncan Street and it threw us a bit when we arrived - a mysterious black door in a slightly dodgy area. It looked more like a door for another kind of massage business... and with a neighbouring business of Condom King...

Still, we entered the code we had been given and went in.

We were then faced with a tiny and rickety steep set of stairs up to a plain door. Enter the code a second time... Hmmm...

However once we arrived the reception looked normal, as did the therapists, so all good.

We were given medical questionnaires to complete and sign to ensure they managed around old injuries etc. (or not risking to be sued...) - however, all very professional.

Di was waiting and keen to get started - so long without massage and a normal excercise/stretch routine has left her feeling like a stiff old board (or broad)...

We both got our own therapist and our muscles are dug into for a hour. Wonderful pain! Di's therapist suggested that she could work on her for a week and still not get all the knots out! Oh well, the small price you pay for world travel. Hans was probably not any better. His shoulders were very "knotty" indeed.

Back at Bond Place hotel around 4.30pm for a shower and rest as we awaited the predicted thunderstorms. You could definitely feel it in the air but the predicted starting times had come and gone before with no rain.

Well, the rain and thunder eventually arrived around 7pm and we finished off the day staying inside in our hotel room. Yep, a truly quiet day. Good night.
